Patty Avery To Run For Indiana State Senate District 49

Patty Avery has announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Indiana Senate District 49.
 
Avery, an Old National Bank Community Outreach Officer, is a recognized community activist whose volunteer efforts have received both local and national recognition. She has led volunteers throughout the state in legislative advocacy on cancer and youth homelessness.
 
“I look forward to a campaign that’s focused on the issues and on how the state can support local communities in creating jobs, strengthening education and laying the foundation for a secure future for our children.”
 
Avery has served as director of Girls in Bloom, co-chair of Evansville’s Homeless Youth Coalition and State Lead Volunteer for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network and as Project Manager for Bank on Evansville.
 
She is the recipient of USI Phenomenal Women of the Community award, Leadership Evansville recognition for individual achievement in government and public service, National Daily Points of Light Foundation award, Old National’s 2007 Wayne Henning Old National Volunteer of the Year award, the 2009 American Cancer Society Great Lakes Division IN-MI Heart of Advocacy award, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network’s 2009 State Lead Volunteer of the Year award, and the 2009 Thomas R. Earley Humanitarian Award. for service to the HIV/AIDS community.
 
“I’m passionate about creating opportunity, and I believe it’s government’s most important role to build the infrastructure that opens doors to individual success, to a healthy economy where everyone who wants a job has a viable one, and to a community where everyone is treated with the respect they deserve,” Avery said.
